How to ask your coach for useful feedback
A specific question helps you find a next step more than “Was I good?”
Make the question answerable
Choose one moment from training: receiving, passing or deciding under pressure. Ask, “What worked here, and what is one thing I could try next?” Listen before explaining your side.
Turn feedback into an experiment
Repeat what you understood in your own words and test it in the next session. Ask for an example if the advice is unclear. A guardian can help you remember the question, while speaking respectfully with your coach builds your own voice.
A practical example
After a drill where you lost possession, ask where you could have looked before receiving. That is easier to answer than a broad question about your overall ability. If the coach suggests two changes, try one next session and leave the other for later.
- Choose a specific moment
- Ask for one next step
- Try it and ask again
