When should you consider changing your child’s football academy?
Changing academies is a decision about current fit, not a final judgement on the club or child.
Identify what could be fixed
Timing, travel, group fit or communication may be the real issue. Record what happened and when, then ask the appropriate contact clear questions. A group change or shared expectations may solve the problem.
Move in an orderly way
If the fit does not improve, compare alternatives against the child’s current needs. Check withdrawal terms and avoid transferring more records or photos than necessary. Help the child leave teammates respectfully and treat the new start as an opportunity, not a test of worth.
A practical example
An academy may work well on the pitch while a changed school schedule makes attendance difficult. Ask about a different group time first, then compare alternatives. Explain that a move caused by routine is not a failure by the child or their teammates.
- Write down the reason clearly
- Allow a suitable chance to resolve it
- Check terms and alternatives before moving
