How coaches should review an AI-drafted football development plan
An AI draft is a starting point; the coach must check accuracy and suitability before sharing.
Check source and wording
Connect each goal to a real observation from the player’s assessment. Remove claims about diagnosis, exceptional talent or future selection. Check that activities suit the age and setting, and that language is supportive and clear. Do not provide private details unnecessary for drafting.
Edit, then deliberately approve
Narrow priorities to a number you can follow up and decide how you will observe an attempt. Separate private coaching notes from the summary seen by player and guardian. Read the complete final version before approval; generation is not a substitute for coaching judgement.
A practical example
An automated draft might say a player “will become professional within a year.” Delete it: the assessment does not support that promise. Replace it with a small goal tied to an actual observation, such as receiving under moderate pressure, then check it suits the player.
- Check each goal
- Remove promises and diagnoses
- Read the final version before approval
General educational guidance, not a child assessment, endorsement of a particular academy or promise of an outcome. Confirm current details directly with the relevant organisation and seek qualified help for health, legal or child-safety matters.
